the Gospel

the Gospel is my favorite story. it's the only thing that makes it work. and by it i mean everything.

i suck at sharing the Gospel. a guy just practically begged for it, and not a single word came to mind. im giving him a Bible i randomly (except not really) have with me. i wrote the Scripture "but small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and few find it." have no idea why. i asked the Lord. felt like that was what he was saying.

but seriously. what's the deal? why can't i do this? i think im going to go tell him. he's sitting outside. moved so he could smoke. but what do i say? "hi. youre in the midst of separation from God because you were born in the condition of rebellion. you can do nothing about this. luckily, God did." it sounds so freakin absurd. i mean, it really is. absurd i mean. screw it. God, give me words...

  1. I know what you mean! I'm horrible at it as well, thankfully God isn't dependent on us or our eloquent speech. I shared through this translator the other day and I froze b/c I didn't know where to start. This guy has literally never heard of Jesus! So if I start with Jesus, then I'm telling him that some guy died for and covers his sins and he can't even grasp that this guy is God, and he surely can't grasp that God would want to or need to do that. It was bad. But i did better later ;-)

  2. i think God is putting us in evangelism 101 this summer eric... and since Jesus holds the reins (or reigns, get it?), i think we'll pass with flying colors :)

  3. this has always been my biggest struggle, and it makes no sense to me. i've always felt ashamed because i'm awful at telling people about the man who is supposedly the most important one in my life.

it makes so much sense to us because He's in us. for someone who doesn't know Him, how do we make them understand?

that's just it. we don't. He does. thank goodness for this.

    He intervenes once again...

  4. i'm proud of you.
and so is the Father. majorly.

He loves using us in our weakness. that's the only way he'll use us. He will come and meet you. the Story is crazy. and sounds ridiculous. clearly no one but our God would have come up with it:)
He loves to use foolish things of this world..

  6. haha. davis ann you are so cool. and really the gospel starts with hey your a sinner and dying. thats hard to tell someone. im not good at it either. good thing we are all just sheep and we have an awesome shepherd that loves to use us when we dont know what we're doing. thats the place where we really surrender and then God gets to be God and not us. what a beautiful story. and i'd like to know what happened too.
